Kris Halstead is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice for more than 35 years. She has a background in elementary education, special education, speech and hearing, sex education and family therapy. Her practice, currently, focuses mainly on family issues, sexuality, trauma and substance abuse. Kris' approach utilizes interventions that empower mind, body and spirit. She works from the belief that psychotherapy is a process of encouraging persons to grow beyond their old wounds, beliefs, stories and patterns into their full selves. She is trained in EMDR and Somatic Experiencing as well as many other therapeutic interventions. Kris is a Somatic Experiencing practitioner and is qualified to give personal and consultation sessions to students of SE.

Kris' publications have contributed to the areas of humanism in medicine, sexuality, family therapy, speech and hearing and diversity issues. She is committed, personally and professionally, to the search for clarification and empowerment regarding issues of cultural, political and social power differences.
